Diabetes Monitor Redesign
We were inspired to reimagine a better blood glucose monitor after speaking to diabetes patients. On a daily basis they need to prick their fingers to manage their diabetes, so we focused on the learnability and adherence of the device so they could continue to monitor their health.
Vision: Redesign a blood glucose monitoring device so it is easy to learn for someone who has limited knowledge of technology. Additionally, take into account disabilities like poor vision and unsteady hands.
Timeline: 2 week design sprint
FINGER PRICK & TEST FLOW WIREFRAMES
Current device designs have ambiguous buttons and confusing screen navigation. There was also no clear way to tell how many test strips you had left in the device. We wanted to address these usability issues with the following improvements:
- Bigger screen
- Rechargeable battery & charging port
- Intuitive buttons for screen navigation
- Moved test strip drum door to the back & test strip counter on screen
- On/off button on top
- Intuitive and human centered feedback in easy to understand language
